It’s safe to say, that for a bride, the morning of her wedding can be a bit overwhelming. All of the vendors you have dealt with, the hair, makeup, and wardrobe, along with the group of ladies by your side, are all coming together and keeping you side-tracked. Lots of those “oh good idea!” moments you have appreciated throughout your engagement may easily slip through the cracks! Here are six helpful reminders that brides may forget to plan for the big day:
1. The Stationary.
our entire invitation suite is the beginning of your wedding day story, so bring it along for a professional photo! Lots of brides add this image to their wedding album, which helps highlight the unique “look” of your day.
2. Pretty Perfume.
I am giving you permission to buy a new fragrance (in a pretty bottle for photos, of course) just for your special day! Seriously, I read this in some bridal magazine, so I can’t take credit, but it makes complete sense. Your “wedding perfume” may seem like an added expense, but that smell will always remind you of your special day.
I still wear my Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and it serves as a sentimental reminder of our spring wedding, and my husband notices when I wear it, too (ok…..I lied about the last part – he’s not observant enough for that). Check out the perfume bottle in the link above – that Jacobs guy wasn’t messing around!
3. The Hanger.
While taking photos of your dress hanging is a must, that dull, plastic hanger isn’t worthy of holding your wedding gown…and sometimes it’s not quite durable enough, either!
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to order one from Etsy and pay rush-order fees – a simple, wooden hanger will help display a timeless and elegant look!
4. Flowers to the Bride.
Many brides opt to get ready off-site, or away from the church or ceremony venue, which is great for convenience and photography, but the florist generally delivers bouquets to the action site. If you’re planning to take photos in your dress before heading to the ceremony, make sure bouquets are delivered to you!
This doesn’t mean we can’t take photos without flowers, but if you’re wanting ring shots with flowers, or details of the bouquets, this is the best time to capture a few shots, while they are fresh and at reach! The groom/groomsmen boutonnieres would be best with the guys as well – it will give them extra time to pin those puppies on, too!
And, while we’re on the subject, if your wedding party will be transported by bus, make sure everyone has their flowers before getting off the bus for pictures – it saves time and extra steps!
5. Carpooling.
This is rarely an issue, but a little reminder never hurt anyone! If your wedding party is traveling from, let’s say, Point A to Point B to Point C, your attendants may need to figure out how to get back to Point A to get their vehicle, especially if they plan to have a few cocktails or have a ride home that night.
Calling a taxi company ahead of time to inform of the event and location, is always a great idea. This can be taken care of a week or two before the wedding, too!
6. You don’t want to be like Cinderella.
I’m not talking about the prettiest sister in the house. (Don’t worry, you’re the bride, you’re the prettiest!) What I mean is, don’t lose a shoe. If you plan to have photos taken on any grass, and you’re wearing heels, there’s a good chance you’re going to sink.
While this may not be as dramatic as quicksand, there would be nothing worse than a bride, tripping and falling on her wedding day! (Grass stains on your wedding dress means everyone will know, even if they didn’t see it!)
A change of shoes (that still look proportional to your dress length) is a good plan. There are also heel protectors(genius!) that slip over your stiletto, to protect your pretty heels, help you walk easier, and save you from embarrassment!
