If you’re just joining in, welcome!  If you’re reading this blog post, please know, I am hopeful that some of these tips will help you succeed in your personal life, as well as in your career, as you organize both, separately!  In Part 1, I admitted the trials I faced, being a new mom, working as a teacher and for myself, as a photographer.  In last week’s Part 2, I explained how setting boundaries and hours in business is beneficial.

I have thought about writing a work-life balance blog for a few years now, but never felt that I had it all figured out or had the right answers for anyone struggling with life balance.  I now know, that although I still don’t have a “perfect balance” between home and business, it’s what works now and is subject to change with my life.  I’m sharing personal tips that have kept my sanity under control!

A cake smash photo session is a fun, joyful way to commemorate the milestone of your little one’s first birthday. Capture your baby’s surprise, curiosity and delight as he/she digs into a birthday cake!  The session takes place at our studio, which is full of fun props, backdrops, and outdoor scenery (weather permitting). 

Many of my clients and friends often ask what I do with all of the pictures I take of my son.  I can hear frustration, insecurity, and stress in their voices, as they are looking for advice! I know why, too. They don’t want to leave these images on a computer. They are working parents. They simply don’t have time!  I can relate to any working mom in this digital age. We have convenient access to take a billion photos in seconds, but when it comes down to doing something with these pictures, we are lost.

With unlimited options for newborn photography, Pinterest isn’t helping a hormonal pregnant mom, make these decisions easily!  There are many factors that go into planning the perfect newborn photo session, and sometimes the comfort of a client’s home, helps them to feel more relaxed days after the birth of a child.  On the other hand, some new parents are ready to get out of the house for a little break!

Professional photos of your children are great to have (and thankfully, keep me in business!), but taking photos at home is a must, especially as your babies grow and you document these sweet memories! Lots of my clients ask me all the time, “how can I take better photos with my nice camera?” I’m letting you in on a few simple secrets that will improve your everyday photos, especially if you are using one of those nice cameras (or any digital camera that isn’t on a phone)!
